The 1000-year-old Niujie Mosque is a famous Islamic temple covering an area of approximately 6000 square meters. The mosque is a mixture of Islamic and Chinese cultures. The outside shows the Chinese influence while the inside decoration is rich in Islamic flavor. The Mosque, built of timber, protects some important cultural relics and tablets, such as the upright tablet of an emperor\'s decree proclaimed in 1694 during the Qing Dynasty.
★★★★★
A beautiful masjid surounded by a Muslim neighborhood with many halal restaurants. Over 1000 years old, this mosque is constructed and decorated in Chinese style with a beautiful minaret. The main prayer hall is decorated with beautiful red and gold calligraphy along the columns/arches and paintings of gardens. Prayers are well attended and you can find many people after salat studying/reciting. However, female visitors may need a tour guide to see the main hall.
